Dries Mertens began his professional career in the Netherlands, where he impressed at clubs such as AGOVV Apeldoorn, FC Utrecht and PSV Eindhoven. His creativity, speed and eye for goal quickly made him one of the most exciting attacking players in the Eredivisie before earning a move to SSC Napoli in 2013.

In Italy, Mertens developed into a complete forward and later became Napoli’s all time leading goalscorer, achieving legendary status among supporters. Internationally, he was also a key figure for Belgium national football team during one of the country’s strongest football generations, helping Belgium reach the semi finals of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
